COBRA maneuver
Cobra maneuver consists of a rapid pitch-up from the
horizontal to a full 120 degress. The pilot holds this
attitude as the aircraft continues to move horizontally.
Airspeed drops rapidly, but the thrust vectoring system,
fly-by-wire controls, canard and tail surfaces allow the
pilot to pitch the nose down.
Performing Cobra maneuver, which can now be flown to angles
of attack beyond 120 degrees, pointing the aircraft
backwards from its flight path. Due to the thrust vector
nozzles, the fighter can be brought forward into a normal
flying attitude in only a few second |
